Role OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled Commercial HVAC Service Technician to perform advanced diagnostics, service, and installation on large-scale commercial HVAC systems. This role requires strong electrical, refrigeration, controls, and mechanical expertise, along with the ability to work independently and consult with customers.Core Responsibilities
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex commercial HVAC systems, including:
Three-phase electrical systems, motors, VFDs, and controls
Refrigeration systems from 1-ton mini-splits to 300-ton chillers
Hydronic systems (boilers, chilled water, cooling towers)
Gas-fired furnaces and unit heaters (combustion analysis)
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on RTUs, AHUs, and central plant equipment
Calibrate thermostats, sensors, transducers, and humidity controls
Install and replace HVAC equipment and components including:
RTUs, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, energy wheels
Motors, contactors, control boards, actuators, solenoids, BACnet devices
Duct systems and air distribution components
Access and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems (BAS)
Program and commission Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
Perform refrigerant leak detection, recovery, and charging per EPA standards
Field & Safety Duties
Assist with rigging and crane coordination for large equipment replacements
Enforce Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures on high-voltage systems
Document work using mobile field software (readings, photos, service notes)
Consultative Responsibilities
Communicate findings and repair recommendations to customers
Identify energy inefficiencies and recommend system improvements
Collaborate with other technicians to resolve complex service issues
