Pressure Vessel Weld Shop SupervisorPosition SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Pressure Vessel Weld Shop Supervisor to lead our rectangular box header manufacturing team. This position combines hands-on welding expertise with shop floor leadership responsibilities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality fabrication operations. The ideal candidate will supervise and support a team of code welders while actively participating in welding and fabrication activities as needed. This role is responsible for ensuring all welding and fabrication processes comply with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) Section VIII and Section IX requirements while maintaining high standards for quality, productivity, and workplace safety.Pay: Starting at $34 an hour and up DOE Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in pressure vessel, heat exchanger, or ASME code fabrication environments.
Previous leadership, lead, or supervisory experience in a weld shop or fabrication setting preferred.
Strong working knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII and Section IX.
Hands-on welding experience with MIG, Flux Core, TIG, or Stick welding processes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
Experience leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Experience with overhead cranes, rigging, and shop fabrication equipment preferred.
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Welder or Welding Inspector certifications preferred.
Experience with pressure vessel assembly, hydrotesting, and heat exchanger manufacturing highly preferred.
Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily operations of the pressure vessel weld shop and rectangular box header manufacturing team.
Lead, train, and support welders, fitters, and fabrication personnel to ensure quality workmanship and production goals are achieved.
Ensure all welding procedures and fabrication activities comply with ASME BPVC Section VIII and Section IX standards.
Read and interpret blueprints, weld procedures, fabrication drawings, and engineering specifications.
Monitor workflow, production schedules, and manpower allocation to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
Conduct quality inspections of welds, assemblies, and completed products to ensure code compliance and customer specifications are met.
Coordinate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve fabrication or welding issues.
Enforce shop safety standards, PPE requirements, and safe welding/fabrication practices.
Assist with welder qualifications, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain organized documentation related to welding procedures, inspections, and production activities.
Support hydrotesting, final assembly, and other production operations as needed.
