Job Description

Position Title: Industrial Painter Assistant Department: Paint Shop Reports To: Assembly Supervisor Supervisory Responsibilities: None Purpose of Position Prepares parts for painting through sanding, filling, grinding, buffing, and masking. Applies primer coat and ensures that all related equipment is maintained in a safe, clean, and functional condition. Completes assigned work accurately and on time. Essential Job Functions • Pull and verify materials before cleaning, masking, and painting. • Properly and safely set up equipment to process orders. • Verify that products meet work order specifications. • Identify areas requiring surface finishing and fill blemishes as needed. • Mix and apply primer with minimal defects. • Assist in troubleshooting paint-related issues. • Report material shortages and paint problems promptly. • Perform required maintenance and cleanup of paint booths and equipment. • Follow all PPE and safety requirements consistently. • Support and comply with all Health, Safety, Quality, and Lean initiatives. • Communicate professionally with coworkers and supervisors. • Demonstrate strong work habits, including punctuality, focus, and quality awareness. Job Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions • Willingness to work overtime as needed • Experience in a paint shop or automotive body shop environment preferred • Ability to read and interpret simple part drawings • Strong teamwork and work ethic • Ability to maintain clean, organized work areas • Adherence to all safety and hazardous waste handling guidelines Qualifications • Experience in automotive or industrial equipment painting • Skilled in wet painting using a spray gun • Experience with automated wet spray paint lines for steel components • Ability to distinguish color variations • Capable of working on multiple priorities with frequent interruptions • Proficient in using hand and power tools • Ability to apply proper paint millage to metal surfaces • Physically able to bend, stoop, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly • Knowledge of surface preparation and quality control procedures • Dependable and safety-conscious Preferred Competencies • Attention to Detail: Maintains precision and focus in all tasks. • Team Attitude: Positive, open, and objective in interactions with others. • Work Standards: Sets high personal standards, meets deadlines, and works efficiently with minimal supervision.
