South DFW Airport Starting at $25 an hour Job Title: Painter (NIOSH-Certified, Fit-Tested) Job Summary: The Painter is responsible for preparing and applying protective and decorative coatings to surfaces such as walls, equipment, machinery, and structures. This role requires adherence to strict health and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and respirators. A valid NIOSH-approved respirator certification and current Fit Test certificate are mandatory for this position, ensuring compliance with safety standards when working in hazardous or enclosed environments. Key Responsibilities: ● Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling, masking, and priming as necessary. ● Apply coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment, including HVLP and airless sprayers. ● Follow all safety protocols when handling hazardous materials, such as lead-based paints, solvents, or coatings containing isocyanates. ● Wear and properly maintain NIOSH-approved respirators and PPE at all times when required. ● Pass annual respirator Fit Testing and comply with OSHA respiratory protection standards. ● Mix and match paint colors to achieve desired finishes and ensure coating compatibility. ● Inspect finished surfaces for quality and make any necessary corrections. ● Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring safe storage and disposal of materials. ● Collaborate with supervisors, contractors, and safety officers to ensure job specifications and safety requirements are met. Qualifications: ● High school diploma or equivalent preferred. ● Proven experience as a professional or industrial painter. ● Current NIOSH-approved respirator training/certification. ● Current respirator Fit Test certificate (in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134). ● Familiarity with SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and chemical safety protocols. ● Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, or in other potentially hazardous environments. Skills and Competencies: ● Strong knowledge of surface preparation and coating application techniques. ● Ability to identify potential safety hazards and respond appropriately. ● Physical stamina for lifting, standing, climbing, and repetitive tasks. ● Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team. ● Effective communication and time management skills.
